Krogen 58’ Manual, Hull 58014
156
Anytime the Bow Thruster is used, all the hydraulic pumps will come to the high pressure
setting which is controlled by a dual pressure manifold connected to the load lines.
When away from the dock or anchorage, and the Bow Thruster is
no longer needed
,
normal electrical loads can then be added to the 20Kw Generator. The Bow Thruster can
be turned
OFF
by pressing the STOP button on the TCS. The
circuit breaker
for the
Bow Thruster (and Windlass) should
remain ON
because it supplies power to the dual
pressure manifold and to the alarm sender for temperature and oil level for the
Stabilizers.
When the vessel’s speed
exceeds 4-5 knots
, make the Stabilizers active by pressing the
“ACTIVE” buttons for both the PORT and STBD fins on the Touchscreen Panel.
When the Bow Thruster is again needed:
1.
Have the 20Kw Generator running (with no load).
2.
Press the
START
button on the Bow Thruster TCS.
Emergency Engine Start Up
In the event of an ECU failure (electronic failure), refer to the Electrical System Layout
on page 50-7 of the John Deere manual for instructions.
Stopping the Engine
Always
follow these procedures when shutting down the engines:
1.
Place
the
Control Heads in
NEUTRAL.
2.
Run
the engines for five minutes at 1200 rpm or less to allow coolant and fuel oil
to carry heat away from the combustion chamber, turbocharger, pistons, and
bearings.
3.
If you are in the Pilothouse, turn key switch to ‘
OFF
’ position and remove key. If
you are on the Flybridge, press the red ‘STOP’ button, then go the Pilothouse to
turn the key switch to the ‘OFF’ position and remove the key.
4.
Turn ‘
OFF
’ the circuit breakers labeled ‘
ENGINE CONTROL (L
)’ and
‘
ENGINE CONTROL (R)
’, on the 24V DC NAV./COM. Electronics Panel in
the Pilothouse.
CAUTION
IMPORTANT: Stopping an engine immediately after it has been working under
load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.
ALWAYS allow the engine to cool before shutdown by following the procedures
below.
TIP
Engine Room blower may be used to help cool down Engine Room and engines
for shut down procedure.
