Battery removal and installation
WARNING!
Accident risk during battery removal and installation
Due to the battery weight and acid there is a risk of trapping or scalding when the
battery is removed and installed.
u
Note the "Safety regulations for handling acid batteries" section in this chapter.
u
Wear safety shoes when removing and installing the battery.
u
Use only batteries with insulated cells and terminal connectors.
u
Park the truck on a level surface to prevent the battery from sliding out.
u
Make sure the crane slings have sufficient capacity to replace the battery.
u
Use only approved battery replacement devices (battery roller stand, replacement
trolley etc.).
u
Make sure the battery is securely located in the truck's battery compartment.
Battery removal and installation
Requirements
– Park the truck securely, see page 58.
– Battery disconnected.
Tools and Material Required
– Cantilevered truck (capacity min. 1.8 t)
– Crane and crane lifting gear, if applicable (capacity min. 1.8 t)
– M12 open-end spanner
Procedure
• Open the front panel (45).
• Undo the battery latch (49).
• To do this, pull the battery latch (49)
upwards and remove the locking plate
(46) attached to the clamping yoke
(48) from the battery tray.
• Set the locking plate (46) down on the
left next to the battery tray opening.
