Key Concepts
Hardware Setup
IMPORTANT:
Before the Maestro software can recognize an ACT2
controller, the controller must be set up with a
communication ID and told what type of
communication to expect. This is done in the System
Setup menu on the front panel of the ACT2 controller.

Definitions
Communication ID
A unique numerical identifier for a single ACT2 controller. The
communication ID must be established at the ACT2 controller in the
System Setup menu displayed on the front panel LCD. The
communication ID for the first controller at each site must be 1. The
second must be 2, the third must be 3, and so on. (See

Site
A location or job that has a single ACT2 controller or network of
controllers. The site name should be unique and easily associated with
a particular location. It can be up to 23 characters long.
Site Abbreviation
The site abbreviation is used to establish a site folder on the hard drive
for data storage. The site abbreviation can be up to eight numbers or
letters, and must comply with DOS naming conventions.
Phone Number
The phone number assigned to a site is the number that Maestro uses
to dial the modem connected to an ACT2 controller. The phone
number can be up to 23 numbers long.
