Chapter 29 of the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code,
ANSI/NFPA 72, (National Fire Protection Association,
Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02269). Printed information
describing proper installation, operation, testing,
maintenance, evacuation planning, and repair service is to
be provided with this equipment. For compliance with
UL985, at least one smoke detector is required. Test the
system at least once per week. The system is intended to
be checked by a qualified technician at least every 3 years.
For UL1637 installations, the test must also be performed
with the AC off, using the standby battery.

battery leads which are not power limited. Do not route any wiring over circuit boards. Maintain at
least 1” (25.4 mm) separation. A minimum 1/4” (6.4 mm) separation must be maintained at all
