F62AA Type

Air Flow Control

Application

The F62AA control detects air
flow or the absence of air flow by
responding only to the velocity of
air movement within a duct.  The
control can be wired to open one
circuit and close a second circuit
(SPDT) for either signaling or
interlock purposes.

All Series F62 flow switches
are designed for use

only

 as

operating controls.  Where an
operating control failure
would result in personal injury
and/or loss of property, it is
the responsibility of the
installer to add devices
(safety, limit controls) that
protect against, or systems
(alarm, supervisory systems)
that warn of, control failure.

Installation

Mounting

The F62AA can be mounted on
the top, side or bottom of a duct.

Install the control in a horizontal
duct whenever possible.  If
vertical duct mounting is
required and flow is downward,
the control must be readjusted.
If flow is upward, refer to the
Flow Rate Table for minimum
flow required to actuate the

control.  The maximum air
velocity should not exceed
2000 FPM (10.16 m/s).

Do not install where the control
will be exposed to weather.

Avoid locations close to elbows,
dampers, fans, duct openings or
other areas where excessive
turbulence occurs.  The control
should be mounted away from
such areas at least five times
the distance of the smallest duct
dimension.  (Example:  On a
3 in. × 8 in. duct, mount the F61
at least 15 in. (381 mm) from the
nearest bend).  The standard
paddle fits into ducts of 3 in. ×
8 in. (76 × 203 mm) minimum.
The paddle may be trimmed for
installing in ducts as small as
3 in. × 6 in. (76 × 152 mm).

To install, proceed as follows:

1.

Select the proper location.

2.

Use the mounting plate
gasket as a template and
mark hole positions.

3.

Drill or punch screw holes.

4.

Cut the center hole large
enough for the paddle to
pass through.

5.

In a horizontal duct the case
must be level with the

paddle at approximately a
right angle to the air flow.

6.

When the horizontal duct is
not horizontally true, check
with a level and place a
shim under the control
mounting plate (see the
drawings on the following
page).

!

CAUTION:  If necessary to
install in a vertical duct with
downward air flow, the
control must be readjusted.
To readjust, turn adjusting
screw clockwise until switch
makes Red to Blue with no
air flow.  Then, adjust screw
one additional turn
clockwise.
