8.3.1 Wire feed in the torch cable assembly
The longer the cable assembly the greater the frictional resistance of the welding wire in the wire liner. The
selected torch cable assembly should therefore be no longer than necessary. When working with aluminium
welding wire, we recommend replacing the wire liner with a Teflon version. The torch cable assembly should
be no longer than 3 m.
We recommend blowing compressed air through the wire liner and wire guide tube whenever you change
the spool of wire. The glide properties of the wire liner deteriorate depending on the amount of wire being
fed through and the wire properties. If the wire feed has noticeably deteriorated, the wire liner needs to be
changed.
9 Maintenance and cleaning
When using arc welding equipment, always observe the provisions of EN 60974-4 Inspection and testing,
as well as any national laws and regulations.
The welding power source requires little maintenance.
However, Jäckle & Ess Systems GmbH recommends the following maintenance activities:
• Regularly clean the contact tip and gas nozzle to remove weld spatter and dirt. After cleaning,
apply release agent to the nozzles to minimise the adhesion of spatter.
• Regularly check the contact tip for wear and damage, and replace it in good time.
• Hoover the interior of the system depending on the level of dirt.
DANGER
Maintenance work and inspections must be exclusively performed by qualified electricians!
NOTICE
Maintenance intervals are guide values and refer to single-shift operation.
DANGER
Electric shock
The following instructions must be adhered to during all maintenance, servicing, assembly, disassembly
and repair work:
• Switch off the power source.
• Close off the gas supply.
• Close off the compressed air supply.
• Disconnect all electrical connections.
• Switch off the entire welding system.
