Note: Since loosening the tubing connected to the outlet port may inadvertently
loosen the line filter, when disconnecting the tubing to the outlet port, use a
wrench to stop the outlet port from turning.
2.4.5 Bottom panel drain port leaks
Table 2.13 lists potential causes and methods for dealing with leaks from the bottom
panel drain port.
Table 2.13 Dealing with Leaks from the Bottom Panel Drain Port
Cause
What to Do
Deterioration of the diaphragm on the plunger washing
mechanism
Replace the diaphragm
(See Section 5.5)
Leakage from the plunger seal:
When a plunger seal is leaking, solvent will normally
leak from either the gap between the pump head and
the head mount flange or from the head mount flange
hole.
When the head mount flange hole is clogged (for
example, by salt precipitation), the solvent will leak
from the drain hole.
See Section 2.4.1
2.4.6 Inlet tube fitting leaks
Tighten the screw to stop leakage from the inlet tube fitting. If the leak persists,
replace the Teflon packing on the front side of the fitting.
