Method 1: DHCP-Based Configuration
If your network has a DHCP service available, the PerfectStorm ONE system will automatically attempt to acquire two IP addresses:
l
the WebUI address (used by FlixOS and BreakingPoint)
l
the IxOS address.
In this case, there is no configuration necessary, but you will need to know the IP addresses for other operations.
To view the assigned IP addresses:
1.
Make sure that your management workstation and the PerfectStorm ONE are connected to the same management switch.
2.
Ping the unit's host name.
The host name appears on the label on the back of the unit (as described in
Record Product Information on page 13
).
The ping command will return the IxOS IP address.
3.
From the management workstation, start a Remote Desktop Connection session with the IxOS virtual machine, using the IP address that
was returned by the ping command.
In the Windows Security window, provide the following credentials:
l
User name: ixia
l
Password: the last part of the host name. For example, if the host name is PS40G-X1234567, the password will be X1234567.
Once you click OK, Remote Desktop Connection establishes the connection and displays the IxOS virtual machine Windows desktop.
If you cannot establish a Remote Desktop Connection to the PerfectStorm ONE system, you can establish a serial connection with
the unit and obtain the addresses from the Administrative Console (as described in
Start a Serial Session on page 56
).
