Virtual Machines and IP Addresses

The PerfectStorm ONE appliance is designed to support
both IxLoad and BreakingPoint. To this end, the basic archi-
tecture includes a Linux operating system (FlixOS) that
hosts two virtual machines: one for IxOS and one for Break-
ingPoint.

This scheme requires two management IP addresses:

l

FlixOS and BreakingPoint are both Linux based, and
share a single address.

l

IxOS, which is Windows based, uses a separate
address.

These addresses can be automatically assigned via DHCP
(the default) or statically assigned.

Static IP Address Requirements

l

The two management IP addresses must be in the same subnet.

l

The addresses cannot be on the following subnets (these subnets are reserved for internal chassis/card communications):

10.0.x.x/16

10.1.1.x/24

10.1.2.x/24
