SATA cables
Isilon IQ nodes use serial ATA (SATA) cables to communicate with the SATA hard drives in the node.
If a cable shows evidence of failure, replace the cable.
General ESD Guidelines
Always follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention procedures when removing and replacing cards, memory, and other
system components. You must use a wrist strap, attached to the node chassis, for grounding.
Required Hardware
•
Replacement serial SATA cable: part number 811-0081-01
•
ESD grounded wrist strap
•
#2 Phillips screwdriver or #2 JIS driver
•
Side cutter or other tool to cut cable ties
Replacing a SATA cable
1. Type
shutdown -p now
to shut down the node.
2. Unplug both power cables from the back panel of the node.
3. Remove the top panel from the node.
4. Before removing a serial ATA (SATA) cable, make a note of the cable connections and routing so that you will be
able connect and route the cable in the same manner.
The drive cables run under the PCI riser card support bracket, over the air baffle, and though reusable foam grommets.
Proper cable routing is important to ensure proper air flow throughout the node.
