Expansion cards
Isilon IQ node expansion cards use a PCI Express (PCIe) bus for communication between the expansion cards and the node
motherboard.
General ESD guidelines
Always follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention procedures when removing and replacing cards, memory, and other
system components. You must use a wrist strap, attached to the node chassis, for grounding.
Required hardware
•
Replacement PCIe card. The card can be one of the following types:
•
InfiniBand/non-volatile RAM (IB/NVRAM) card
•
Serial-attached SCSI (SAS) card
•
GigE or 10 GigE network interface card (NIC)
•
ESD grounded wrist strap
•
#2 Phillips screwdriver or #2 JIS driver
Removing the riser card assembly
1. From the command-line interface, enter
shutdown -p now
to shut down the node.
2. Unplug both power cables from the back panel of the node.
3. Remove the top panel from the node.
4. Loosen the captive screw that secures the riser card support bracket, pivot the bracket toward the back of the node,
and lift the bracket out.
