Fiber Repeater Mode
As was mentioned previously in the document the max distance between the two ISC2 devices is less
than 5 km (3.1 mi). When the requirement is to support distance that is more than 5 km (3.1 mi) the
iSC2 in the Fiber Repeater Mode allows extended distance between serial devices.

The repeat function will optically re-transmit any data received on the optical receiver, in addition to
any connected serial devices. As a result, any data transmitted from the master, will be re-transmitted
optically to the slave. In this case the distance between master and slave can be extended over the 5
km (3.1 mi).
This topology can be used for RS232, RS485 or RS422. In all cases, all repeater devices should have
the repeat function (DIP position 5) ON.
