7 TRIM & INSPECT THE BELT
Belt Splicing System v.2.0
7-3
3.
Create a smooth belt edge without snags
along the splice. Be sure not to puncture or
score the belt.

debris
FABRICATION TIP
Collect plastic remnants
and particles as they are created, then
discard them away from belt and product.
Inspect the Belt
Thorough weld bead and flash removal is criti-
cal for splicing success. Remaining weld bead
or flash that contacts sprockets or the conveyor
frame strains the splice and causes premature
belt failure.
FABRICATION TIP
Allow the belt to cool at least five (5) minutes
before inspecting.
Ensure these requirements are met before run-
ning the belt.
The belt top and bottom are smooth and
flat at the splice.
Belt edges at the splice are smooth and
straight without any snags.
The belt lies flat and smooth on the carry-
way without waves or bends.
The drive bars on each side of the splice
engage Pitch Gauge notches.
To inspect the drive bar pitch, use the cor-
rect side of the Pitch Gauge (8026 for 26
mm drive bar pitch and 8050 for 50 mm
drive bar pitch) and inspect two (2) or
more places along the splice.
