Chapter 17 Troubleshooting
17.10 No Parallel
Communication
Description:
The following actions are valid for the parallel “Centronics“
interface board. Also see Chapter 17.8.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Wrong type of Centronics communication selected.
- Check that the settings on the host match the printer’s Cen-
tronics interface board, see Chapter 16.3. Nibble, byte, ECP,
and EPP are not supported.
- There are three types of Centronics communication, which are
selected by means of the Fingerprint instruction SYSVAR(25),
see

. Verify that the printer is set for the same type as the
host.
•
Host does not set SELECT IN signal low (applies to non-
modifi ed Centronics interface pcb P/N 1-971603-26 and
1-971603-27 only.)
- See edition 1 of this manual for instructions how to modify old
Centronics interface boards.
• Damaged interface board or cable.
- Replace the parallel interface board with another one which
is positively working in other printers and try again. If the
interface board seems to be damaged, replace it. Do not
attempt to repair a damaged interface board.
• Wrong std IN channel selected in custom-made program.
- Verify that the Centronics communication port is selected as
standard IN channel.
