Using the Patch Editor
SceneStation defines a “patch” as a definition of what DMX fixtures or properties are assigned to
individual DMX channels.
SceneStation does not require you to patch any DMX channels to operate. Without any patched
channels, you can simply control each DMX channel individually. Patching is optional.
By patching DMX channels, you can give SceneStation more information about what additional
functions some of your DMX channels have. For example, you can assign channels to control the
Red, Green and Blue (RGB) components of a light fixture, or as the dimmer (intensity) channel for
a fixture, etc.
To view the Patch Editor, make sure the toggle button is switched to the Patch Editor setting:

The following controls allow you to add patched fixtures:
• Quick Patch
This section allows you to quickly add common fixture types to the current channel selec-
tion. First, select one or more channels in the Channel List, then options will appear in the
Quick Patch area.
• Fixture Control - Create
This section allows you to create a generic fixture, and also give it specific control
properties.
• Fixture Control - Copy & Paste
This section allows you to Copy and Paste fixture definitions you’ve created.
• Fixture Control - Delete
This section allows you to delete unwanted patch elements.
