3.12.1

Removing the System Fan

Before removing a system fan, remove the system fan cover by completing the following steps:

1.

Slide the system forward out of the rack.

Locate the two thumbscrews securing the system fan cover and turn them counterclockwise (see
Letter A).

3.

Push the fan cover slightly towards the front side of the system chassis, then lift the cover up
(see Letter B).

4.

Identify the system fan to be replaced. Identify the system fan to be replaced. The location for fan
fault LEDs is shown in Figure 40. The LED lights up when a fan fails.

Each system fan has a fan fault indicator LED. The following illustration shows the locations of fan fault
LEDs. A lighted LED indicates a fan issue or failure.
