Installing a Power Supply
Note:
Because the power supplies are IPMI capable, it is recommended to wait for 40 seconds in between
removal and insertion of power supply units to enable the CMM to properly detect and address the
power supplies.
1. System power does not need to be off to install a power supply.
2. Remove the intake grill from the bottom front of the enclosure. Refer to the
“Cooling Subsystem” on page 55
for information about working with the intake grill.
3. Select an empty power supply slot. If an air management board populates the slot, it must be
removed. Unscrew any retention screws that fasten the board to the enclosure and slide the air
management board evenly out of the enclosure.
4. Prepare the power supply by opening the injector/ejector mechanisms (refer to
).
5. Align the rails on the power supply with the guides in the slot. It may be helpful to look into
the enclosure to verify correct alignment of the rails in the guides.
6. Slide the power supply in the guides and press firmly to seat the connector. Refer to
.
7. Tighten the two retention screws on the front panel of the power supply. Refer to
“Power Supply Orientation” on page 39
for the location of power supply retention screws.
8. Replace the intake grill.
