Items not included with the ReliaGATE 50-21 Gateway, but very useful, include a VGA-
capable monitor, USB keyboard, and an active Internet connection with RJ45 cable. Account
information (login, password) from the Eurotech sales team is required. If a monitor/
keyboard are not available, it is possible to connect to the ReliaGATE 50-21 Gateway using
SSH from Linux* or a terminal emulator program, such as the free PuTTY program, which
serves as an SSH client on Windows* or Linux.
BASIC SETUP
After unpacking the equipment and putting it in a suitable location, complete the following
steps to boot the Eurotech ReliaGATE 50-21 Gateway (referred to as the “50-21” in this
document) and install demonstration software:
1. Connect a VGA cable between the 50-21 and a suitable monitor.
2. Connect a USB keyboard to a USB port on the 50-21.
3. Connect the serial cable between the 50-21 Serial 1 port (front side with the
antenna connectors) to the programmable logic controller (PLC) Port 2.
4. Connect the red and black inter-device power cable between the 50-21 DC input
and the EDC demonstration board DC output.
5. Connect the 24 VDC power supply to the DC input on the EDC demonstration board.
6. At this point, verify the PWR and RUN LEDs at the edge of the PLC of the
demonstration board are lit, the Linux boot process is displayed on the monitor, and
after a minute or so, the LEDs on the demonstration board are flashing in sequence.
If the RUN LED is not lit on the PLC, ensure the switch on the back of the PLC is set to
RUN.
7. At the Linux prompt displayed in the monitor, login to the 50-21 using the account
name root and the password root. Verify network connectivity using the
ifconfig
command and/or the
ping
command to a suitable URL.
8. Note the MAC address printed on a label on the bottom of the 50-21.
