Processing the keys located on the front panel
To receive the pressings of front panel keys start the utility fpxevent for

FireFox using
the configuration file /etc/lirc/lircrc, or fpqevent for WebKit, which uses the configuration
file /etc/lirc/lircrc.wk. Starting parameters and operating algorithm of these utilities are
the same.
This utility has option -t, followed time in ms.
Two operating modes are available for this utilities:
1. Each pressing on the key is translated into the pressing a key on the keyboard
corresponding to the keys:

fp_vol-
•

fp_ch-
•
fp_ch+
while releasing the key is translated into pressing the key on the keyboard
corresponding to the keys:

fp_power_UP
•
fp_vol-_UP
•
_UP
•
fp_ch-_UP
•
fp_ch+_UP
This mode is activated if the option –t is not set.
In this mode “short” and “long” pressings on the keys are distinguished, which
allows assigning two functions for each key. The pressings after which the key is
released during the period less than the time set by option –t are considered
short, and they are translated into pressing the keyboard keys corresponding to
the keys:
