Electrical Grounding and Safety
This appliance must be grounded. This is accomplished by ensuring the plug
is inserted into a properly grounded outlet. The appliance is equipped with
a cord that has a grounding wire and plug. When grounded, the risk of elec-
tric shock is reduced by providing an escape wire for the electrical current.
WARNING
: Improper use of the grounding plug can result in electric
shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if the grounding
instructions are not completely understood, or if there is any doubt that
the appliance or outlet is not properly grounded.
This appliance has a polarized plug, meaning that one blade on the plug is
wider than the other. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended
to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do
not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
• Completely assemble the product for
use before plugging it into an outlet.
• Make sure the power cord does not
touch any hot surfaces, including the
appliance.
• Switch off and unplug the unit after
use, when fitting or removing parts,
and before cleaning.
• To protect against electric shock, do
not immerse or allow the cord, plugs
or appliance base unit to come in
contact with water or any other liquid.
• Extension cords may be used with care
if the marked electrical rating is at least
as great as that of the product. Arrange
the cord so that it will not drape over a
countertop or tabletop, or can be trip-
ped over or pulled accidentally.
• Do not plug or unplug the product
into/from the electrical outlet with
wet hands.
• Discontinue any operation of the
appliance if the cord or plug are
damaged.
• To disconnect from an electrical out-
let, ensure the product is off and then
pull directly on the plug; do not pull
on the Power Cord.
• Do not put any stress on the power
cord where it connects to the product,
as this is likely to cause a malfunction
or safety hazard.
• Always ensure the product is un-
plugged from the electrical outlet and
that all parts stopped before assem-
bling, disassembling, relocating, or
cleaning it.
WARNING
: Handling the cord on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical
known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other repro-
ductive harm.
