Connecting the motor and the Piccoboard
The Piccoboard-
PRO
, motor and battery connector are connected as follows:
First solder the blue wire attached to the
PRO
board to the motor terminal marked with a red dot. Solder the red wire
attached to the
PRO
board and the single red wire (1.5 x 70 mm) to the other motor terminal.
The motor must now be suppressed by soldering a capacitor between the two motor terminals as a bridge. Locate the gold-
contact
socket
with the
black
wire attached to the board, and the gold-contact
plug
on the
red
wire attached to the motor,
and connect them. Press the plug and socket into the holes in the fan housing, where they will automatically snap into
place.
Note the correct installed position of these parts, as shown in the drawing. Caution: take great care to avoid
mixing up these connections!
Fit a short piece of silicone tubing over the open end of the socket to reinforce it, and
insulate it with a heat-shrink sleeve to guard against short-circuit.

PRO
To prevent the main motor bursting into life unexpectedly when you are adjusting the electronics, we recommend that you
disconnect the blue wire from the motor.
In any case the motor must always be disengaged mechanically for all
adjustment work
by removing the motor pinion.

Installing the plug & go system
The PRO-Piccolo features the special “
plug & go
” battery connector system. This enables you to fit the battery in exactly
the same position every time, ensuring that the Centre of Gravity position is constant. It is also very simple to handle during
a flying session.Apply the self-adhesive foam tape to the battery holder. Fix the battery to the holder about 8 - 10 mm aft of
the projecting braces, as shown in the drawing.
Caution: be sure to use the foam tape supplied
and keep to the stated
installed position, otherwise the canopy will not fit over the battery. Remove the standard connector from the battery cable
as follows: first cut through the negative wire (black insulation) immediately adjacent to the plug. Solder the
negative
wire
attached to the battery to the gold-contact
plug
, and push this through the mounting hole in the battery holder. Now cut
through the
positive
wire in the same way. Solder this wire to the
socket
, and insulate the joint with a heat-shrink sleeve
before pressing it into its mounting hole. Fit a short piece of silicone hose over the exposed end of the socket to reinforce it,
and insulate it with a red heat-shrink sleeve to guard against short-circuit. The battery can now be secured by shrinking a
10 mm wide loop of 70 mm heat-shrink sleeving round it.
Index spot
When the model is to be flown, simply fit the completed
plug & go
assembly onto the chassis from the front, and allow it to
snap into place automatically. The first time you install it please check that the holder engages properly. To remove the
battery press the retaining knob and pull the battery forward.
