IDE device configurations are changed or set in the IDE Configuration menu (
). If an IDE device is detected, and one of the above listed two BIOS configuration
options is selected, the IDE configuration options shown in
Section 6.2.1

Halt On [All, But Keyboard]
Use the
Halt On
option to specify what errors detected during the power up process stop
the system.
All Errors
Whenever BIOS detects a non-fatal error the
system is stopped and the user prompted.

All, But Keyboard
The system boot does not stop for a keyboard
error; it stops for all other errors.

The system boot does not stop for a disk error;
it stops for all other errors.

or a disk error; it stops for all other errors.
Base Memory:
The
Base Memory
is NOT user configurable. The POST determines the amount of base
(or conventional) memory installed in the system. The value of the base memory is
typically 512K for systems with 512K memory installed, or 640K for systems with 640K or
more memory installed.
Extended Memory
The
Extended Memory
is NOT user configurable. The BIOS determines how much
extended memory is present during the POST. This is the amount of memory above 1MB
located in the memory address map of the CPU.
