The Be Operating System Release 4.5 and the bundled application
software were preinstalled on your system at the factory. For this
reason, this user’s handbook assumes that you already have a partition
dedicated to BeOS on your computer. The BeOS Release 4.5 Installer
CD is included in case you need to reinstall the BeOS and the
application software that was included with the system.
Note
The BeOS Installer CD contains only the operating system and software
that was pre-installed on your computer. If you have installed any
additional applications (such as word processors, games, or drivers for
equipment such as scanners or printers), you must reinstall them
individually from their own CDs or diskettes.
Reinstalling BeOS and application software
Refer to the BeOS Release 4.5 Installation Guide that accompanied
your system for detailed instructions about how to use the Installer CD
to reinstall the Be operating system. To reinstall the bundled software,
see the individual online installation instructions found in their
respective folder on the Installer CD. The registration numbers for the
bundled software are on the inside front cover of this handbook.
Reinstalling BeOS and the included application software can result
in the loss of previously saved data files and/or third-party
application software. Before reinstalling software from the BeOS
Release 4.5 Installation CD, save copies of your important files onto
diskettes or other storage media (such as ZIP
®
disks or tape
cartridges) before proceeding. If important files are lost during the
reinstallation of BeOS and the included application software, you
will then be able to restore them from your backups.
