DIAGNOSTIC
MODE
The
Diagnostic
Mode
provides the following features:
- Printout of the event log
- Printout of malfunctions (50 max.)
- Clearing of diagnostic information

Note:
The
Check Printer
alarm will not sound if problems are encountered while
printing in the Biomed mode.
To enter
Biomed Mode
, proceed as follows:
1. Confirm the AC power indicator on the front panel is illuminated
.
2. Unlock and open the security door.
3. Press and hold
[
ENTER]
and
[ON/OFF]
simultaneously.
4. Verify the
Biomed Mode
screen is displayed.
5. Press the
[CONTINUE]
softkey.
6. Connect the infuser to a printer, and press
[CONTINUE]
. After the power up RAM
test is completed, the infuser displays the
Biomed Mode
main menu screen.
7. Press the
[DIAGNOSTICS]
softkey and verify the
Diagnostic
menu appears.
8. Press the
[
PRT EVENT LOG]
softkey to print the event log.
9. Press the
[PRT MALF. LOG]
softkey to print the malfunction log.
10. Press the
[INIT. PUMP]
softkey to initialize the infuser, then press
[CONTINUE]
.
Note:
Initializing the infuser will clear all data, including stored protocols,
and return the device to its default settings.
11. Press
[YES]
. After initializing, the infuser returns to the
Diagnostic
screen.
12. Press
[EXIT]
to return to the
Biomed Mode
screen, or power off, then on, to exit
Biomed mode and return the device to normal operation.

ALARM
MESSAGES
AND
ERROR
CODES
Alarms on the LifeCare PCA infuser have three priority levels (high, medium, and low)
which occur based on the severity of the alarm condition. Alarms are generated when
values for parameters monitored by the infuser move out of a preset range.
The infuser has an intelligent alarm system that handles more than one alarm at a time.
- If two alarms occur at the same time, the highest priority alarm will be activated first,
and the lower priority alarm will be activated after the highest priority alarm has been
resolved.
- If two alarms occur at the same time that have the same priority, the alarm which was
WARNING: A PATIENT SHOULD NEVER BE CONNECTED TO THE INFUSION SYSTEM
DURING DIAGNOSTIC MODE OR SERVICE MODE.
