Measuring SWR
The transceiver has a high-performance SWR
meter. This meter displays a stable measurement
in real time, even if the transmit output power
varies frequently.
There are 2 ways to measure SWR. One way
is a spot measurement, and the other is a plot
measurement.
L
When you measure the SWR of an antenna itself,
turn OFF any connected antenna tuner.
D
Spot measurement
1. Turn OFF any connected antenna tuner.
L
Perform this step if an antenna tuner is
connected, and you want to measure the SWR
of the antenna itself.
2. Set the desired frequency band and a
frequency in the portion of the band that you
use the most.
3. Select the RTTY mode.
4. Set the RF power to more than 5 W.
5. Touch the TX meter several times until the
SWR meter is displayed.
“SWR” is displayed.
NOTE:
Before transmitting, monitor the
operating frequency to make sure you will not
cause interference to other stations on the same
frequency.
6. Hold down [PTT] to transmit, and then read
the SWR on the meter.
The best match is within this range.
(1.5 or less)
L
If the SWR meter indicates 1.5 or less, the
antenna is matched.
L
If the SWR is a high value, adjust your antenna.
7. Release [PTT] to stop transmitting.
