Updating the blade appliance configuration
Use this information to update the blade appliance configuration.
When the blade appliance starts for the first time after you add or remove an
internal device, you might receive a message that the configuration has changed.
See Chapter 4, “Setting up the initial firmware configuration,” on page 21 and the
IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances: Administrators Guide
and
IBM WebSphere
DataPower: Command Reference
for your blade appliance for details about updating
the blade appliance configuration.
Removing the blade appliance from the BladeCenter unit
Use these instructions to remove the blade appliance from the BladeCenter unit.
The following illustration shows how to remove a blade appliance, blade server, or
blade filler from a Type 8852 BladeCenter unit. The appearance of your
BladeCenter unit might be different; see the documentation for your BladeCenter
unit for additional information.
Attention:
v
To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the BladeCenter unit without
a blade device, expansion unit, or filler module installed in each blade server
bay.
v
When you remove the blade appliance, note the blade-server bay number.
Reinstalling a blade appliance into a different blade server bay from the one it
was removed from can have unintended consequences. Some configuration
information and update options are established according to blade-server bay
number; if you reinstall the blade appliance into a different bay, you might have
to reconfigure the blade appliance.
To remove the blade appliance, complete the following steps:
1.
If the blade appliance is operating, turn off the blade appliance (see “Turning
off the blade appliance” on page 12 for more information).
Attention:
Wait at least 30 seconds, until the storage devices stops spinning,
before you proceed to the next step.
2.
Open the two release handles as shown in the illustration. The blade appliance
moves out of the blade server bay approximately 0.6 cm (0.25 inch).
