Removing a DVD drive
To remove the DVD drive, complete the following steps.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and
external cables.
3. Pull the server out of the rack; then, remove the cover (see “Removing the
4. Disconnect the cables from the rear of the drive. You might also want to
disconnect the cables for the operator information panel and front Ethernet
connectors from the system board.
5. Remove the two screws that secure the drive enclosure to the chassis.
6. Slide the drive enclosure toward the rear of the server slightly; then, lift the drive
enclosure out of the server.
7. Remove the four screws that secure the drive to the enclosure; then, remove
the drive from the enclosure.
8. If you are instructed to return the DVD drive, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
