
Removing a PCIe riser-card assembly from the I/O enclosure
To remove a PCIe riser-card assembly from the I/O enclosure, complete the
following steps.
I/O enclosure

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
2. If the system-board tray is installed in a chassis, remove it (see “Removing the
system-board tray from a 2U chassis” on page 75).
3. Remove the I/O enclosure from the system-board tray (see “Removing an
expansion enclosure from a system-board tray” on page 73).
4. Carefully set the I/O enclosure on a flat, static-protective surface.
5. Remove the PCIe adapter bay cover from the I/O enclosure and save it for
future use (see “Removing the PCIe adapter bay cover” on page 113).
6. Remove the PCIe adapter, if one is installed, and save it for future use (see
“Removing an adapter from the I/O enclosure” on page 102).
7. Remove the four screws that secure the PCIe riser-card assembly to the I/O
enclosure and save them for future use.
8. Pull the PCIe riser-card assembly off the mounting studs and out of the I/O
enclosure.
9. If you are instructed to return the PCIe riser-card assembly, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
