Creating the virtual drive on the 7063-CR1 system
Follow the steps in this procedure in the unlikely event that you need to re-create the virtual drive on the
IBM 7063-CR1 Hardware Management Console.
About this task
This procedure assumes that:
v
The system was erroneously shipped without an already created and pre-loaded virtual disk
v
The existing virtual disk is somehow damaged and needs to be re-created.
These are rare events.
CAUTION:
This procedure will result in loss of data. This procedure should only be used if the HMC operating
system is either not installed, incorrectly installed, or corrupted.
This task must be performed from the Petitboot shell.
Procedure
1.
Access the Petitboot shell and install the
mvcli
utility. For instructions, see “mvCLI commands” on
2.
If you have not already done so, before running
mvcli
for the first time, run the following commands:
modprobe sg
/tmp/mvcli
3.
To check that there are no virtual drives already defined, run the following command:
/tmp/mvcli info -o vd
If there is a drive defined, run the following command to remove it; where
<id>
is the listed ID for
the virtual disk:
/tmp/mvcli delete -o vd --id <id>
4.
Run these commands to check the health of the two host bus adapters (HBAs):
/tmp/mvcli info -o hba
