When
a
power-on
password
is
set,
you
can
enable
the
Unattended
Start
mode,
in
which
the
keyboard
and
mouse
remain
locked
but
the
operating
system
can
start.
You
can
unlock
the
keyboard
and
mouse
by
typing
the
power-on
password.
If
you
forget
the
power-on
password,
you
can
regain
access
to
the
server
in
any
of
the
following
ways:
v
If
an
administrator
password
is
set,
type
the
administrator
password
at
the
password
prompt.
Start
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
and
reset
the
power-on
password.
v
Remove
the
server
battery
and
then
reinstall
it.

for
removing
the
battery.
v
Change
the
position
of
the
power-on
password
override
switch
(switch

on
switch
block

on
the
system
board)
to
bypass
the
power-on
password
check.
Attention:
Before
changing
any
switch
settings
or
moving
any
jumpers,
turn
off
the
server;
then,
disconnect
all
power
cords
and
external
cables.

While
the
server
is
turned
off,
move
the
switch
to
the
position
opposite
its
current
position.
You
can
then
start
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
and
reset
the
power-on
password.
You
do
not
need
to
return
the
switch
to
the
previous
position.
The
power-on
password
override
switch
does
not
affect
the
administrator
password.
Administrator
password
If
an
administrator
password
is
set,
you
must
type
the
administrator
password
for
access
to
the
full
Configuration/Setup
Utility
menu.
You
can
use
any
combination
of
up
to
seven
characters
(A–Z,
a–z,
and
0–9)
for
the
password.
The
Administrator
Password
choice
is
on
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
menu
only
if
an
optional
IBM
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
SlimLine
is
installed.
Attention:
If
you
set
an
administrator
password
and
then
forget
it,
there
is
no
way
to
change,
override,
or
remove
it.
You
must
replace
the
system
board.
Remote-control
password
If
a
remote-control
password
is
set,
you
must
type
the
remote-control
password
to
access
the
server
remotely.
You
can
use
any
combination
of
up
to
seven
characters
(A–Z,
a–z,
and
0–9)
for
the
password.
You
can
specify
the
number
of
failed
attempts
to
enter
the
correct
remote-control
password
that
are
allowed
and
the
duration
that
must
elapse
before
another
attempt
is
allowed.

only
if
an
optional

The

Setup

Installation

includes
an
easy-to-use
setup
and
installation
program
that
is
designed
for
your
IBM
server.
The
ServerGuide
program
detects
the
server
model
and
hardware
options
that
are
installed
and
uses
that
information
during
setup
to
configure
the
hardware.
The
ServerGuide
program
simplifies
operating-system
installations
by
providing
updated
device
drivers
and,
in
some
cases,
installing
them
automatically.
Note:
The

works
