Best practices for network configuration (Customer reference task)
Use this section for best practices and guidance when you fill out the Installation worksheet.
Using these best practices, the customer is aided to select IP addresses for the management interfaces
and fill out the Installation worksheet. This information from the customer is required for the SSR to
pre-set the required IP addresses needed for successful storage deployment. Once the SSR is finished,
the hardware and management networking is ready for the next phase of the install (Quick deployment
guide), see the Quick Deployment guide in the IBM Elastic Storage System 3200 Documentation website.
The SSR takes the input from the worksheet and implements the requested IP addresses. The information
below is general guidance and is purely for example reasons. If the SSR does not receive desired IP
addresses at time of hardware installation, they would set default IP addresses on the nodes.
Management server best practices (EMS)
Ensure that each IP in the worksheet is on the same subnet. Recommended subnet is /24
(255.255.255.0).
Management Network IPs:
Subnet: 192.168.45.0/24
IP Address: 192.168.45.20
