Configuration rules for I/O adapter features
To order I/O adapter features, you must follow specific configuration rules.
The following configuration rules affect I/O adapter features:
v
Configuration rules for I/O enclosures and adapters
v
Configuration rules for host adapters and host adapter cables
Configuration rules for I/O enclosures, device adapters, and
cards
Use these configuration rules and ordering information to help you order I/O
enclosures, device adapters, and cards.
For storage systems that support both standard drive enclosures and High
Performance Flash Enclosures Gen2, use the following tables to determine the
number of I/O enclosures, device adapters, standard drive enclosures, and High
Performance Flash Enclosure Gen2 features that you need in various storage
configurations. To use the table, find the rows that contain the type of storage
system that you are configuring. Then, find the row that represents the number of
storage enclosures that are installed in that storage system. Use the remaining
columns to find the number of I/O enclosures, device adapters, standard drive
enclosures, and High Performance Flash Enclosures Gen2 that you need in the
storage system.

quantity is two device adapter features for each I/O enclosure feature in the storage
system.
3.
Each High Performance Flash Enclosure Gen2 feature represents one High Performance
Flash Enclosure Gen2 pair, and a pair of flash RAID adapters and required cables. The
maximum quantity is two High Performance Flash Enclosure Gen2 features for each
I/O enclosure feature in the storage system.
4.
Each I/O enclosure feature represents one I/O enclosure pair. An I/O enclosure pair
can support up to two device adapter pairs and one High Performance Flash Enclosure
Gen2 card pairs.
