23. Replace the front bezel as described in “Front Bezel Replacement (Model 6C4)” on page 442 or
“Front Bezel Replacement (Model 6E4)” on page 443.
24. Replace the service access cover, as described in “Service Access Cover Replacement (Model 6C4)”
on page 431 or “Service Access Cover Replacement (Model 6E4)” on page 437.
25. If you are servicing a Model 6C4, push the system drawer back into the operating position as
described in “Returning the Model 6C4 to the Operating Position” on page 430.
26. Reconnect all system power cables.
27. The service processor settings should have been set to their default values. If the service processor
settings have not been set to their default values, the default values must be restored. To restore the
default values settings, do one of the following:

Manually reset all settings.
v
If the service processor settings had previously been saved, The settings may be restored using
the procedure in “Saving and Restoring Service Processor Settings” on page 364.
28. Check the firmware level that is on the new CEC backplane. Look at the top of the service processor
main menu. If the firmware is not at the correct level, refer to “Firmware Updates” on page 393.
29. Power on the system as described in “Starting the System without an HMC Attached” on page 425.
30. Reset the time and date.
31. If you are running AIX, the
bootlist
command may need to be run while logged in as root user. This
rebuilds the customized boot list. Internet protocol (IP) parameters may also need to be reentered.
32. If you are servicing a Model 6C4 and the system has successfully powered on, close the rack doors.
If you are servicing a Model 6E4 and the system has successfully powered on, close the bezel door.
33. Check the firmware level on the new backplane; see “Determining the Level of Firmware on the
System” on page 395. If the firmware is back-level, download the latest firmware from CORE or the
Web. (See “Firmware Updates” on page 393.)
