Installing or replacing a 2-port 10-gigabit Ethernet module
The 2-port 10-gigabit Ethernet module is an optional feature for the B24C models
and can be installed or replaced in the field.
This section provides the steps for installing, removing, and replacing the 2-port
10-gigabit Ethernet module. You will need the following tools to perform these
procedures:
v
#2 Phillips-head screwdriver
v
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) kit
Note:
For safety reasons, the ESD wrist strap should contain a series 1 meg ohm
resistor
Removing a 2-port 10-gigabit Ethernet module
1.
Power off the switch.
2.
Use a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws on the 2-port 10-gigabit
module.
3.
Remove the 2-port 10-gigabit module.
4.
Place the 2-port 10-gigabit module in an anti-static bag for storage.
5.
If you are removing the module without replacing it, install the blank faceplate
in the front panel.
Installing a 2-port 10-gigabit Ethernet module
Follow these procedures when installing a 10-gigabit Ethernet module:
1.
Power off the switch.
2.
Use a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the blank faceplate or old module
from the front panel.
3.
Gently push the 2-port 10-gigabit Ethernet module into the chassis. The module
should slide into the backplane connector and be flush with the front of the
switch.
4.
Use a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver to fasten the screws on the 2 x10-gigabit
module. Affix the screws loosely at first, then tighten them once you are sure
the board is properly positioned.
Replacing the Fan Tray
Each device contains a resilient six-fan fan tray that pulls air from the front to the
back of the device. Each of the six fans in the fan tray can operate at four speeds:
low speed, medium speed, medium-high speed, and high speed. The system uses a
default or configured temperature threshold to determine at which speed the fan
should operate. If desired, you can change the settings of the temperature
thresholds associated with the fan speeds. All fans operate simultaneously at the
same speed.
If a single fan fails within the fan assembly, the fan tray should be replaced. The
fan tray is hot-swappable, meaning it can be replaced without powering down the
switch. If the switch remains operational during a fan tray replacement, the
procedure must be completed within 30 seconds.
To replace the fan tray, follow these steps:
