Removing the system board cover
You must remove the system board cover to install memory DIMMs or PCI
adapters.
Attention:
Proper cooling is necessary to avoid damage to your computer. Do
not operate your computer without all covers in place.
To remove the system board cover, do the following:
1.
Remove the rear cover. See “Removing the rear cover” on page 40.
2.
Remove the hard disk drive. See “Removing the hard disk drive” on
page 42.
3.
Remove the four thumbscrews holding the system board cover.
Attention:
A fan is mounted inside the system board cover and is connected to the
system board with a cable. Be careful to not damage the cable when
removing the cover.
4.
Carefully lift the system board cover upward approximately .64 cm (.25 in.)
and position it so that you can access the memory DIMMs and PCI
expansion slots.
Note:
You can leave the fan cable connected to the system board or
disconnect it if necessary. For the location of the fan cable connector,
see “System board” on page 39
