In the HydraSwing™, a communication protocol allows the Smart Touch Controller to
constantly monitor the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and record events in the STC history
log. The history log is easily accessible using the HySecurity S.T.A.R.T. program and a PC
laptop computer or view history log codes by accessing the User Menu, LG item (software
version h5.53 or later).
With the ModBus RTU:
•
Reduction in field calls is likely because the STC resets VFD faults or error codes upon
receiving a new command.
• Quality issues with the site power are controlled better which results in less
intermittent operator problems.
• Smoother operator acceleration and deceleration enhances gate travel.
All HydraSwing gate operators include ModBus cable and RTU communication protocol
installed.

The gate speed designates how quickly the gate opens and closes. The available range from 1 to 3 varies the
speed of the motor and the gate speed increases as you go up the number scale.
Two displays, one for OPEN SPEED the other for CLOSE SPEED, exist in the Smart Touch Controller. The steps
involved in changing the open speed are shown below. The steps to set the close speed are the same, you just
need to access at the CLOSE SPEED display. The factory defaults for both are set to 2, a mid-range setting.
1. Start at the gate status display.
2. Access the user menu by pressing the Menu button twice.
3. Access the Installer menu, by simultaneously pressing the Open and Reset buttons.
4. Use Next to navigate to the menu display. Change the setting using the Select and Next buttons.
To exit the Installer menu, press the Menu button. The gate status appears in the display indicating you have
returned to Run mode.
