Before replacing an FPIC, you need the following tools:
l
ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves
l
Phillips screwdriver
l
ESD bag
Procedure
Step 1
Check the location of the FPIC to be replaced.
Before pulling out an FPIC to be replaced, first check the location of the FPIC, that is, the
cabinet, chassis, and slot where the FPIC resides. Then, locate the FPIC to be replaced in the
chassis and label the FPIC.
Step 2
Check whether there is any bent pin in the connector of the new FPIC.
Step 3
Pull out the cables from the FPIC and label the cables with the corresponding interface
numbers.
Step 4
Power off the LPU to be replaced.
Use either of the following methods:
l
Press and hold the OFL button on the panel of the LPU for five seconds until the OFL
indicator turns on.
l
In the user view, run the
power off
slot
slot-id
command.
Step 5
Pull out the FPIC to be replaced from the LPU.
1.
Put on the ESD wrist strap and connect the ground terminal to the ESD jack on the rack.
2.
Using the Phillips screwdriver, turn the two captive screws counter-clockwise to loosen
them, as shown in
(1).
3.
Hold the captive screws of the FPIC and pull out the FPIC, as shown in
NOTICE
– Pull out the LPU slowly and smoothly to prevent it from hitting neighboring boards
and affecting running boards.
– Touching parts on the LPU when swapping it may damage the LPU.
