Quidway® AR 46 Router Enhanced Synchronous/Asynchronous
Serial Port Module
Overview
The enhanced synchronous/asynchronous serial port module of the AR46 router, FIC-SA card,
supports synchronous and asynchronous working modes. Its main function is to transmit and
process the synchronous/asynchronous serial data flow, supporting synchronous and
asynchronous working modes. The synchronous working mode supports the DTE/DCE mode.
In different working modes (synchronous or asynchronous mode) the synchronous/asynchronous
serial port supports different electrical signal standards and baud rates. The maximum transmission
distance of signal is not only related to the baud rate but also related to the selected cable. The
relationship between the cables, cable type, baud rate and signal maximum transmission distance
is shown in the table.
