 Installing an optical module

NOTICE

l

The performance of an optical module may deteriorate if it is exposed to the air for more
than 20 minutes. Therefore, insert a fiber optic cable into an unpacked optical module
within 20 minutes.

l

The CPRI optical cables must be correctly connected in one time during the installation.
Otherwise, the RRU may become faulty, causing cells to fail to provide services.

Step 2

Install CPRI optical cables.

NOTICE

l

Ensuring that CPRI optical cables are correctly connected before the RRU is powered on.
Otherwise, the RRU may become faulty, causing cells to fail to provide services.

l

To avoid any damage to fiber optic cables, the cables connected to the RRU must be
installed according to the installation process. For details about the installation process, see

9.3 Installation Process

.

l

When installing CPRI optical cables for dual-fiber bidirectional optical modules, remove
the dustproof cap from the optical cable, and connect the end labeled 1A and 1B on the
optical cable to the optical module on the RRU side, as shown in 

Figure 9-27

. Connect

the DLC end labeled 2A and 2B to the CPRI port on the main control board (such as the
GTMU) or baseband processing board (such as the WBBP) in the BBU.
