Data Preparation
To configure LLDP, you need the following data.
No.
Data
1
IP address used as the management address of LLDP
2
Interval for sending LLDP packets
3
Delay for sending LLDP packets
4
Time multiplier of device information held in neighbor stations
5
Delay for re-enabling the LLDP function on an interface
6
Delay for sending traps of neighbor changes
4.3.2 (Optional) Enabling the LLDP Trap Function
To send traps to the NMS when the neighbor information changes, you need to enable the LLDP
trap function on the switch. Do as follows on Switch A and Switch B.
Context
After the LLDP trap function is enabled, the switch sends trap messages to the NMS in any of
the following cases:
l
LLDP is disabled globally.
l
The LLDP management address is changed.
l
The information about neighbor stations changes. If the management address of a neighbor
station is changed, no trap message is sent.
Procedure
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2
Run:
snmp-agent trap enable feature-name lldptrap
The LLDP trap function is enabled.
----End
4.3.3 Enabling LLDP Globally
When the switches are enabled with LLDP, the switches notify the neighbors of their status and
obtain the status of the neighbors by exchanging LLDP packets. The NMS can obtain the status
information about Layer 2 connection on the switch, and then analyze the network topology. Do
as follows on Switch A and Switch B.
