12.4.2 Scenario of HA Backup Between Two CGN Devices
Before You Start
Before configuring HA backup between two CGN devices, you need to familiarize yourself with
the usage scenario, complete the pre-configuration tasks, and obtain the required data.
Applicable Environment
When two CGN devices are deployed, service boards on the CGN devices can form an HA
backup group. Data on the active service board is synchronized to the standby service board.
When the active service board fails, the standby service board takes over the services. When the
active CGN device or the link connected to the active device fails, the standby CGN device takes
over the services. Services are not interrupted during the switchover, and users do not know the
fault.
l
When multiple CGN devices are deployed, 1:1 backup of service boards can be configured
on two CGN devices when the number of users is not large. The active service board
processes services, and the standby service board does not work. The active service board
backs up user entries, session entries, and address pool entries to the standby service board.
When faults occur on the active service board, CGN device, or link, the standby CGN
device takes over the services.
l
When multiple CGN devices are deployed, 1+1 backup of service boards can be configured
on two CGN devices when the number of users is large. The active and standby service
boards process their own services, and back up user entries, session entries, and address
pool entries to the peer end. When faults occur on one service board, CGN device, or link,
the service board on anther CGN device takes over the services from the faulty service
board, CGN device, or link and also processes its own services.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before configuring HA backup between two CGN devices, complete the following tasks:
l
Configure multiple CGN devices inserted with service boards.
