NOTE
After a pair is split, modify the secondary resource protection status to readable and writable, secondary
resource data is rolled back to the status last time when the pair synchronization is complete.

6.5 Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a
Remote Replication
This operation enables you to switch the roles of the primary and secondary resources of a
remote replication pair. The data synchronization direction changes as the primary/secondary
relationship changes.
Prerequisites
l
The remote replication pair for which you want to initiate a primary/secondary
switchover is not added to a consistency group.
l
Primary/Secondary switchover can be performed when synchronous remote replication
is in the following states:
–
Pair Running Status
is
Normal
,
Secondary Resource Data Status
is
Synchronized
, and
Status of Secondary Resource Protection
is
Read-only
.
–
Pair Running Status
is
Split
,
Secondary Resource Data Status
is
Consistent
,
and
Status of Secondary Resource Protection
is
Read/Write
.
l
Primary/Secondary switchover can be performed when asynchronous remote replication
is in the following states:
Pair Running Status
is
Split
,
Secondary Resource Data
Status
is
Consistent
, and
Status of Secondary Resource Protection
is
Read/Write
.
Procedure
Step 1
Log in to DeviceManager.
Step 2
Choose
Data Protection
>
Remote Replication
>
Remote Replication Pair
.
Step 3
Right-click the remote replication you want to perform the switchover and choose
Primary/
Secondary Switchover
.
The security alert dialog box is displayed.
