10.12 What can I do if I can't connect to Windows 7 or 8
when my phone is in file transfers mode?
File transfers mode uses MTP transfer mode that requires that your computer's USB ports use
standard Windows drivers. Some third-party chipset manufacturers' drivers may not be
standard Windows drivers, causing compatibility problems with your phone.
If you select file transfers mode and your phone's internal storage cannot be displayed on the
computer, try again with a different brand of phone and see if the same problem occurs. If so,
it may be that the problem is caused by driver incompatibility. Try contacting your computer's
manufacturer's customer service center for assistance in resolving problems related to being
unable to use your phone with the computer due to problems with drivers.
