3.13 Removing a SAS/SATA Drive
NOTE
l
The SATA or SAS drives support hot swap.
l
If the drive to be removed has no operating system installed, you can remove it without
powering off the compute node.
l
If the drive to be removed has the operating system installed and is in a RAID array with
redundancy, you can remove it without powering off the compute node.
l
If the drive to be removed has the operating system installed but it is not in a RAID array or it
is in a RAID array without redundancy (for example, RAID 0), power off the compute node
before removing it.
l
The SAS/SATA drives support RAID configuration.
l
If the drive to be removed is not in a RAID array or is in a RAID array without redundancy
(for example, RAID 0), back up the data on the drive before removing it.
l
If the drive to be removed is in a RAID array with redundancy, you do not need to back up
data before removing it.
Procedure
Step 1
Determine the slot and position of the drive.

Step 2
Check the running status of the drive by observing its indicators.
.
Step 3
Determine whether the drive needs to be removed.
l
If yes, go to
.
l
If no, rectify the drive fault.
