In the upstream direction, the HG861 connects to the OLT on the network side through the
passive optical network (PON) port, namely the optical port on the rear panel, to provide
the integrated access services.

In the downstream direction, the HG861 connects to the PC, STB, and other devices through
the Ethernet port to provide the data and video services.
