Installing and configuring HPE 16Gb FC
switches
This chapter provides installation and configuration information for the HPE 16Gb FC switches.
Accessories
The following items are included with the standard shipment of a fully-configured 16Gb FC Switch. When
opening the packages, verify that the following items are included and that no damage has occurred
during shipping:
• One StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch with two hot-swappable power supplies and three hot-
swappable fans, or one SN6000B 16Gb FC Switch with two integrated power supply and fan
assemblies, or one SN3000B 16Gb FC Switch with one integrated Power supply and fan assembly, or
one StoreFabric SN4000B SAN Extension Switch with two integrated power supplies and integral
fans.
NOTE:
The SN3000B 16Gb FC Switch can, as an option, be configured with a second Power supply
and fan assembly, which must be ordered separately.
• Serial cable with an RJ-45 connector plus an adaptor for RJ-45 to DB9.
• Power cords: two included with the StoreFabric SN4000B, SN6500B, and SN6000B switches, one
included with the SN3000B.
• Rubber feet, required to set up the switch as a standalone unit.
• One accessory kit with the following items:
◦ Rack Mount Kit, including rails, rail mounting hardware, and plenum.
◦ Hewlett Packard Enterprise product documentation, including Read Me First, Safety Guides, User
License, and Warranty.
• HPE EZ Switch and China ROHS documentation.
• HP SAN Network Advisor DVD.
Installation and safety considerations
You can install the switch in a rack or as a standalone device on a flat surface. Hewlett Packard
Enterprise recommends mounting the SN6000B 16Gb FC Switch, the SN3000B 16Gb FC Switch, and the
StoreFabric SN4000B SAN Extension Switch in any of the supported HPE racks.
The supported HPE racks include the HPE 10000 G2 Series, the Intelligent Series racks, and the HPE
11000 G2 Series racks.
Electrical considerations
For successful installation and operation of the switch, ensure that the following electrical requirements
are met:
• The primary outlet is wired correctly, protected by a circuit breaker, and grounded in accordance with
local electrical codes.
• The supply circuit, line fusing, and wire size are adequate, as specified by the electrical rating on the
switch nameplate.
• A maximum of 71.36 cubic meters/hour (42 cubic feet/minute). Nominal airflow is 59.47 cubic meters/
hour (35 cubic feet/minute).
