Connecting an External DLT80
Tape Drive
This chapter describes the procedure for connecting an HP StorageWorks DLT80
external tape drive to an HP ProLiant server or an HP AlphaServer. When
installing be sure to place the DLT80 drive on a flat, sturdy surface such as a desk
or tabletop.
Note:
Do not place the unit on the floor. Allow enough space for proper ventilation
and easy access to the front and rear of the DLT80 drive. Allow at least 3 inches (7.6
cm) between the rear of the unit and the wall.
WARNING:
Risk of electrical shock. Do not attempt to open this product.
There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all service to an HP
authorized service provider.
Connecting the drive involves the following steps:
1. Setting the SCSI ID on the DLT drive
2. Shutting down the server and all peripherals devices
3. Connecting the DLT drive
4. Powering on the peripherals
5. Powering on the server
