Install a server drive in the cage

Prerequisites

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have a T-10 screwdriver available.

Procedure

1.

Install the drive in the cage.

Make sure that the drive connector is on the same side as the arrow marker on the cage.

Install the drive screws.

Replacing the drive SATA-power Y-cable

Procedure

1. Prepare the server for hardware replacement

.

2. Remove the access panel

.

3.

If installed, 

remove the communication board

.

4.

Perform the step applicable to your situation:

• If you are replacing the drive 1 SATA-power Y-cable or are replacing the SATA-power Y-cables for both

server drives, 

remove both server drive assemblies

.

• If you are only replacing the server drive 2 SATA-power Y-cable, 

remove only the drive 2 assembly

.

5. Remove the drive SATA-power Y cable

.

6. Connect the new drive SATA-power Y-cable

.
