Default configuration settings are applied to the server at one of the following times:
•
Upon the first system power-up
•
After defaults have been restored
Default configuration settings are sufficient for typical server operations; however, you can modify
configuration settings as needed. The system prompts you for access to the UEFI System Utilities each
time the system is powered up.
USB support
Hewlett Packard Enterprise servers support both USB 2.0 ports and USB 3.0 ports. Both types of ports
support installing all types of USB devices (USB 1.0, USB 2.0, and USB 3.0), but may run at lower speeds
in specific situations. For example, USB 3.0 capable devices operate at USB 2.0 speeds when installed in
a USB 2.0 port.
For maximum compatibility of USB 3.0 devices with all operating systems, Hewlett Packard Enterprise
provides a configuration setting for USB 3.0 Mode. Auto is the default setting.
External USB functionality
Hewlett Packard Enterprise provides external USB support to enable local connection of USB devices for
server administration, configuration, and diagnostic procedures.
Redundant ROM support
The server enables you to upgrade or configure the ROM safely with redundant ROM support. The server
has a single ROM that acts as two separate ROM images. In the standard implementation, one side of the
ROM contains the current ROM program version, while the other side of the ROM contains a backup
version.
NOTE:
The server ships with the same version programmed on each side of the ROM.
Change control and proactive notification
The HPE ProLiant Easy Connect server line comprises a software platform, a server hardware platform,
and a management service that includes regular software patches and updates being applied to the
system.
Updates are achieved through the following controlled changes to the server:
•
Software releases that introduce new capabilities to extend server functionality and performance,
and roll up defects and vulnerability fixes that are not considered either critical or important
•
Software patches and security updates that address defects considered critical or important
because they could create (or could imminently create) serious issues with respect to the availability
of the server or risk the integrity of user data
•
Urgent software patches and security updates that comprise the most urgent software patches and
security updates issued
A patch or update is considered urgent if the defect or vulnerability will have an immediate and
catastrophic effect on the server or the integrity of user data.
Partial or complete service outage occurs during the application of updates. The updates occur at a
predetermined schedule agreed upon by the user.
