Replacing Modules
Installing Modules
To install a new or replacement module:

For further details, refer to the installation procedures described on page 2-16 .
1. Make sure you install the module in the appropriate slot.
• Switch fabric modules can only be installed in the slots labelled FM-A or FM-B .
• Management modules can only be installed in the slots labelled MM-A or MM-B .
• Interface modules can only be installed in slots numbered 1-8 (Switch 8108fl); or in
slots numbered 1-16 (Switch 8116fl).
2. Slide the module all the way into the slot. Press the ejector levers until
they are vertical to seat the module fully in place, ensuring that the pins
on the back of the module are completely connected to the backplane.
C a u t i o n
Ensure that the backsheet (metal plate) of the interface module and not
the circuit board is between the module guides. Check both the upper and
lower guides.
3. Tighten the captive screws on each side of the module to secure it to the
chassis.
Verifying the Installation
Once a module is installed, the ProCurve 8100fl Switch recognizes and
activates the module. To verify installation, make sure the Status LED on each
module is solid green.
N o t e
The Active LED will not light on a redundant (non-primary) management
module or on a redundant (non-primary) switch fabric module.
